Regal Masters upset Floodlight despite Jones, Deonarin knocks

Veteran softball player Wayne Jones made a half century while Floodlight captain Ricky Deonarain narrowly missed out on one as their team went down to regal Masters by two wickets in matches of the Ramchand and Rohan Auto Spares softball cricket competition.

Batting first Floodlight scored 173 for 9 off their allotted 20 overs with Jones making the top score of 78 while Deonarain supported with 43.

Troy Kippings took 2 for 18 and Clyde Butts, the former test player 2-41. Regal Masters in reply reached 179 for 8 in 16.3 overs with Eric Thomas making an unbeaten 62. Satrochan Seeraj 43, Eon Abel 38 were also among the runs while Clyde Canterbury took 3-23.

At the Parika Ground, Wolf Warrior defeated Speed Boat by 126 runs. Wolf Warriors batted first and made 206 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs. Ricardo Adams 70, Vishnu Tannechandra 32 and Safraz Karim 21 were the principal scorers as Greg Singh took 3 for 18 and Imran Hamid 2-28. Speed Boat in reply slumped to 81 all out in 12.4 overs. Diaram Persaud bagged 5-10 and Mark Harold 2-17.

Parika Defenders defeated Enterprise Legends by 15 runs. Parika Defenders batting first, made 177 for 7 in their 20 overs. O. Chandler 46 and S. Mohamed 24 were the main contributors. N. Roopdeo took 2-20. Enterprise, in reply, were 162 for 6 when their overs ended. D. Hemraj made 63 and S. Mohabir 28. R. Rambarose took 3 for 26. At the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Ground, Fishermen Masters defeated Slingers by six wickets. Slingers, batted first, made 165 for 8 in 20 overs. Ramo Malone 32, Shaimendin Mohabir 43 and Suraj Lall Kumar 22 were the principal scorers. Fishermen Masters in reply made 169 for 5. Robert Mohan made 35 and Danny Gangadin 30. Ramo Malone took 2 for 33. In a women’s encounter, Trophy Stall Angels defeated Blue Divas by 54 runs. Trophy Stall made 122 for 3 in their allotted 10 overs. Kavita Yadram was not out on 44 while June Ann Ogle made 36. Blue Divas, in reply, reached 68 for 5 in 10 overs. Rehanna Shelto made 22 while Amanda Roberts took 2 for 11.

In another women’s encounter, 4R Lioness defeated Sleepin Warriors by 9 wickets. Sleepin batted first and made 61 all out. Akaze Thompson took 2 for 8 and Shian Goodluck 2-9. The Lioness in reply made 62 for 1 in 3.1 overs. Tamika Wilson made 31 not out and Ruth George 28 not out. In men’s matches, Wellman defeated Industry Super Kings by 4 wickets. Industry Super King batted first and made 175 for 9 in their 20 overs.B. Heralall 34 and N. Chand 33 were the top scorers. Greg DeFranca took 2 -22 and Mike Singh 2-32. Wellman, in reply, made 176 for 7 in 19 overs. Hardat Heranand was unbeaten on 62 while Lloyd Rooplall chipped in with 42. Jagdesh Persaud took 2-20.

At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, Challengers defeated Trophy Stall by 12 runs. Challengers batted first and made 170 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Anan Rooplall made 45 and Nizam Khan 40. Fazal Rafeek took 2-20. Trophy Stall, in reply, made 158 all out. Raj Ramkissoon top scored with 39 while Diaram Ramnauth bagged 3-10 and Latchman Chinapen 3-26. In the final match of the round, Princess Hotel defeated Brickery Superstars by seven wickets. Brickery batted first and made 182 all out. S. Ramdhan 47 and M. Mangar 37, were the principal scorers. Gary Mandhall took 3-25 and Navin Beharry 3-33. Princess Hotel in reply made 186 for 3. Gero Singh was unbeaten on 72 while Amit Singh made 39.
