Zone Two blitzes rivals

Usual suspects, Avon Samuels, Jevina Sampson and Matthew McKenzie, turned in praiseworthy performances to help Zone Two to run away with the North Georgetown Inter-Zone champions’ trophy yesterday at the Eve Leary ground.

Zone two, amassed 939 points to relegate a game zone one (908) and zone three (704 points) to runners up positions. Zone four, finished in the cellar after tallying a meagre 217 points.

The Herculean efforts of Samuels and Sampson, who completed sprint triples in the girls U-18 and U-20 events (100m,200m,400m) respectively, McKenzie’s middle distance/distance treble (800m,1500m and 5000m) along with the performances of other athletes, ensured that Zone 2 were crowned champs for 2014.

The threesome whose gold medal performances were the highlights of the meet, also guaranteed themselves spots on the team to compete at the National Schools championships in November.
