Dark horse Stella Maris whips North Georgetown 4-0

Tourney favourites West Ruimveldt blanked Green Acres by a 3-0 margin when the fourth annual Petra Organization/Courts Pee football tourney continued yesterday at the Thirst Park ground.

Christopher Harris opened the scoring for last year’s runner-ups compliments of right footed attempt into the left hand corner. Justin Persaud would then make it 2-0 in the 14th minute, stabbing his effort into the lower left hand corner from within the penalty box.

Persaud would then complete the score line in the 28th, netting his second through a left sided finish down the centre of the goal.

Tucville Primary maintained their unbeaten record, holding off St. Gabriel’s 3-0. Rayheem Marques netted the opener with a finish down the middle of the goal from the centre of the area in the sixth minute.

Tucville would then increase their lead as Keion Marques netted in the 21st minute, placing his shot into the left hand corner after collecting a left sided pass from R. Marques within the right side of the box.

The score line would then be confirmed six minutes later as K. Marques sealed his double with a strike down the middle of the goal from within the right side of the area.

Stella Maris continued to justify their dark horse status, defeating North Georgetown 4-0. Jayden Pitt broke the deadlock in the 10th minute with a strike into the lower right hand corner of the goal.

Earl Grant would then increase their lead two minutes later with a finish into the left side of the net from within the centre of the area. Grant would then seal his double in the 14th minute, lashing his effort down the centre of the goal.

The win would then be sealed five minutes later as Darron Niles netted, rifling his right footed effort from the outside the centre of the box into the left hand corner.

In the fourth fixture of the day, defending champs St. Pius were held to another disappointing nil-all draw with St. Angela’s. In other matchups, F.E. Pollard crushed J.E. Burnham by a 6-0 margin. Quincy Williams led the way with a hat trick in the seventh, 17th and 21st minutes.

Supporting with solo strikes were Brian Williams, Makhaya Jarvis and Tramel McCurdy in the 10th, 15th and 27th minutes respectively.

St. Margaret’s brushed aside St. Ambrose by a 3-0 score line. Makhi Adams led the scorers with a second half double in the 18th and 20th minutes while Josiah King opened the scoring in the 50th second.

Smith Memorial edged South Ruimveldt 1-0 through an Omalli Harry strike in the first minute; Marian Academy defeated Winfer Gardens via walkover while Ketley Primary also earned a walkover victory against Success Primary. East La Penitence were held to a 0-0 draw with Enterprise Primary in the sixth matchup.
