The second round of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer first division league continues today at the Tucville Community Centre ground with four matches.
The feature match of the day will witness a pivotal top-of-the-table affair when league leaders Pele face off against third positioned Sunburst Camptown from 20:00hrs.
Securing the top spot after hammering Beacons 7-1 in their last match, Pele will attempt to put distance between themselves and the rest of the field and will look to the likes of Okeene Fraser, Calvin Shepherd and Shemroy Arthur to get the job done.
Held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by derby rivals Northern Rangers, the Campbellville unit will look to get back to winning ways but will need an improved showing from the likes of Reshawn Sandiford, Devon Forde and Anthony Sancho, if they are to claim the vital win.
In third fixture at 18:00hrs, home side and second placed Fruta Conquerors, will oppose the ever-improving Georgetown Football Club (GFC).
Creating the upset of the second round with a 2-0 win over Pele, the youthful but talented Bourda side will look to continue their giant killing feats and will require another collective display, if they are to make it three wins in as many games.
However, GFC’s two consecutive clean sheets will be threatened against the league’s leading offence who have netted over 50 goals to date.
With the home side needing a win to keep pace with Pele, a tough night is expected for GFC when they face off with the quartet of Dwayne Lawrence, Jermaine Junior, Eon Alleyne and Kevin Barrow.
The second match at 16:00hrs will witness sixth placed side Flamingo FC locking horns with cellar dwellers Beacons FC. In the opening affair, seventh positioned side Northern Rangers will tackle fourth placed outfit the Guyana Police Force (GPF) from 14:00hrs.
