Fruta Conquerors, Pele meet in GFA Stag Beer division one final

-Pele holds psychological advantage

Two titans will clash today to decide who will win the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer first division title when league leaders Fruta Conquerors battle second placed side Pele at the Tucville Community Centre ground from 20:00hrs.

With both sides locked on 34 points after 13 games each, the final matchup is expected to be a humdinger. Fruta Conquerors lead the standings due to their superior goal difference of +53 to Pele’s +32.

Pele on the other hand, possess the psychological advantage after defeating the Tucville based unit by a 4-0 margin in their earlier fixture and will fancy their chances of repeating the feat.

With a win required to seal the title, Pele will need another clinical showing from their quartet of Calvin Shepherd, Okeene Fraser, Shemroy Arthur and Jamal Cozier to pilot them to victory when opening whistle sounds.

Needing only a draw to clinch the championship, the home side however, will be looking to exact revenge for their earlier defeat and will look to the likes of Dwayne Lawrence, Eon Alleyne, Jermaine Junior and Trevon Lythcott to ensure a positive result when play commences.

Fruta Conquerors coach Calvin Allen in an invited comment said:“I know for certain and expect a tough encounter against Pele football club. It is something we are looking forward to and we have our confidence up and the mood in the camp is good.

“We were beaten in the first round by Pele so I think it’s all the more we have a score to settle. Winning the game mean’s wining the league and we have our plans in place.

We are doing our preparation and I am very confident with the kind of work we are doing in the last six weeks, will pay off in the game come Sunday.
