Forde looking to win Suriname leg of IAAF South American 10k

Cleveland ‘Little Kenyan’ Forde will look to ride the momentum of his first place finish in the initial leg of the IAAF South American 10km road race when he contests the second leg in Suriname today.

The distance ace, along with Alika Morgan, are Guyana’s representatives for the annual event in the neighbouring Dutch territory. This was announced yesterday by president of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson.

Forde blitzed a star-studded field on his way to winning the first leg here last Sunday.

He clocked 32:27:29 which is the fastest time for a 10km locally in recent memory.

Forde and Morgan received high praise from Hutson who stated that he expects both athletes to finish on the podium. In the first leg, Morgan placed third behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Tonya Nero and US-based, Euleen Josiah-Tanner.
