Troy Humphrey Memorial race set

The 17th annual Troy Humphrey Memorial event will definitely roll off tomorrow in the National Park. This was confirmed by Roraima Bikers Club and Humphrey’s Bakery and Farm Products, organizers of the lucrative race meet which was postponed on October 25 due to unforeseen circumstances.

The day of racing pedals off at 09:30hrs and the nation’s best wheelsmen will definitely be going saddle to saddle in eight exciting races.

The Category 1-3 30-lap race will be the feature attraction. For the event, 10 sprint prizes will be up for grabs, while the first six finishers will be handsomely rewarded.

National cyclist, Marlon Williams who placed fourth overall in the five-stage race will be looking for a vital rebound when he saddles up to defend his title.

However, with the likes of five-stage winner, Robin Persaud, national riders, Alanzo Greaves, Raynauth Jeffrey, Hamzah Eastman, Geron Williams, Michael Anthony and others, Williams will have his hands full.

Other races carded for the day include: Win and Out (three laps), Mountain Bikes (five laps), BMX Open (three laps), Juveniles (10 laps), juniors and Category 4 (20 laps), Veterans U-50 (five laps) and Veterans O-50 (five laps).

The first three finishers in the above events will take home prizes.

As customary, the family members of the late Humphrey will distribute the prizes upon the programme’s completion.
