Cameron brothers steer Port Mourant to victory

The Cameron brothers, Nicholas and Dimitri of the Port Mourant Cricket Club (PMCC) scored half-centuries which steered their team to a to three-wicket win over Rose Hall Town Pepsi when the two sides met in a Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Elizabeth Styles Under-19 limited overs match last Saturday.

In the match that was reduced to 43 overs-a-side at the PMCC ground, RHT Pepsi won toss, batted first and scored 215 for 9 with Ashkay Homraj 75 (3×4, 1×6) Bhaskar Yadram 52 (9×4) Brandon Prashad, 46 (3×4), the top scorers. Samuel Kishnasammy (3-35) and Arif Chan (2-43) did the damage for PMCC.

PMCC in reply scored 216 for 7 off 42.5 overs after Nicholas struck four four’s in his 78. Dimitri chipped in with 61 which included five fours while a useful 27 from Kishnasammy aided in the winning cause. Bowling for Rose Hall Pepsi Yadram took 2 for 43.

In their BCB/New Building Society second division zone fixture, PMCC met Springlands and defeated them by 60 runs in a one-sided affair.

PMCC batting first, scored 168 all out, led by 66 (4×4) from Lloydel Lewis and 40 from Chan.

  1. Ramdass took 4 for 58 for Springlands who, in reply, were bowled out for 108, with only C. Beresford 23 and M. Kendall 21 offering resistance. Kishnasammy grabbed 3 for 8 while A. Wajib picked up 2 for 25 for PMCC.

With the win, PMCC has advanced to the quarterfinals of both competitions and will face Number 72 in the New Building Society fixture this Saturday, with a win guaranteeing them a place in the semifinals of the competition.
