GT&T outfits CAC Games-bound women’s hockey team

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) company is continuing its support of women’s hockey by outfitting the national side with team kits for their Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Vera Cruz, Mexico from November 15-23.

Making the presentation of behalf of the company was its Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nadia DeAbreu.

In a brief comment DeAbreu said that the company supported the efforts of the team and wished them success during the tournament.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the team was Vice-Captain Ulrica Sutherland who stated that institutions such as GT&T should be applauded for providing young individuals with the opportunities to achieve their goals in sport and other beneficial endeavors.

The local side, who will depart shores today, has been placed in group-B which comprises of defending champions Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda and the Dominican Republic. They will open their campaign on Saturday against the Dominican Republic.

Guyana will then battle the defending champs in the second match on Monday and will finish their group campaign next Wednesday against Bermuda. Due to their successes over the previous three-year period, Guyana enters the event ranked fourth amongst the eight competing sides.

The national team roster reads Alysa Xavier (GK), Ulrica Sutherland, Ashley DeGroot, Tiffany Solomon, Maria Munroe, Trisha Woodroffe, Aliyah Gordon, Marzana Fiedtkou, Leigh Sandison, Gabriella Xavier, Kerensa Fernandes, Chantelle Wales, Samantha Fernandes, Shebiki Baptiste, Tekeisha Deleon and Princessa Wilkie.
