DCC and Everest to clash in GCA/Noble House Seafoods final

After surpassing more than 10 teams during several months of competition at numerous venues in the city and its suburbs, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the Everest Cricket Club are set to clash in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Noble House Seafoods Second Division Two-day Competition at the DCC ground in Queenstown.

From today at 10.30am, GCA powerhouse DCC will face consistent performers Everest to see who will finish at the pinnacle of the second division match. The two sides, who made it to the final after rain affected semi-finals ended in their favour, have been fielding contrasting sides leading up to the ultimate event. While the hosts are known for their natural aggression whether bowling or batting, the visitors are more cautious in their approach.

DCC are expected to field a mixture of experienced players with the youths. Lynden Lyght who is over 40-years-old will lead them onto the field while the remainder of the team comprises a number of former and current national youth players including Sherfane Rutherford, Ronaldo Renee and Dexter George.

On the other hand, the Everest line-up consists of left-arm orthodox spinner Javed Rasheed who is the leading wicket taker in the tournament with 50 wickets. He will join with former national youth players Khemraj Ramdeen and Chris Surat, who have been instrumental in their team’s success in the preliminaries, to increase Everest’s chances of winning.

With over 50 wickets in the tournament, Javed Rasheed is set to lead Everest in tomorrow’s finals.
