GABF U-19 high school exchange …St Rose’s High trounces Bishops’ High 66-10

St Rose’s High embarrassed an experienced Bishops’ High unit 66-10 when the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) U-19 High School Exchange Project continued on Wednesday at the St Rose’s High Basketball Court.

Mark July was the top scorer for the winners with 11 points while the next best scorers were Patrice Agrippa and Kemo Cornelius with eight and seven points respectively. Sealing the score line with six points apiece were Nathan Saul, Stephon Joseph, Kwesi Roberts and Malik Hooper.

In a fixture contested in two 20-minute periods, St Rose’s quickly asserted their dominance, racing off to a 13-0 run through easy layups from fast-break situations. The Bishops’ High finally got on board when they netted their first points with 10:20 on the clock.

The home side continued their dominance in the period, netting a further 14 points while reducing Bishops’ High to a mere six more points as the first stanza finished with the score on 27-8.

July was the principal scorer in the period as he registered all of his 11 points while Cornelius and Hooper netted four points each. Opting to field an experimental starting line-up in the first half, St Rose’s would introduce their more seasoned campaigners in the second period.

The resulting change in personnel would see the home side outscoring their Carmichael Street rivals 39-2.

This included a 20-2 run in the first eight minutes of the period which resulted in the Bishops’ High netting their only points of the half with 24:30 on the clock.

The home side’s dominance in the half would be highlighted by a monstrous one-handed dunk from Saul in the 29th minute following a fast-break situation. The programme is slated to continue on Friday 21st at a venue to be named.
