Mekdeci trounces Melville in junior squash

Benjamin Mekdeci brushed aside Alec Melville in straights sets during their Category-A fixture when the 2014 Farfan and Mendes Junior Squash Christmas tourney commenced on Thursday at the Georgetown Club Squash Courts.

Mekdeci raced into the early lead as he claimed the first set by an 11-4 margin. He would then extend his advantage in the second set, winning by an 11-5 score line. The victory would then be completed in the third set as he won 11-8.

In Category-B, Larissa Wilshire defeated Alex Cheeks 11-3, 11-1, 7-11 and 11-4 while her brother Shomari Wiltshire downed Daniel Islam 11-4, 12-10 and 11-8.

The Category-C fixtures saw Jael Gaskin losing to Makeda Harding 11-8, 10-12, 8-11 and 2-11 while Anthony Islam defeated Maya Collins 11-4, 11-8 and 11-5. The lone Category-D showdown witnessed Demetrius DeAbreu losing to Ethan Jonas 5-11, 10-12 and 3-11.

In Category-E, Madison Fernandes crushed Kirsten Gomes 11-3 and 11-3 while Daniel Lowe went down to Nechmiyah Levans 5-11, 11-8 and 0-11. Zachary Persaud would then defeat Nadine Jairam 11-5 and 11-3 in the final fixture of the section.

The lone Category-G matchup witnessed Kamir Khan brushing aside Liam Carpenter 11-1, 11-2 while James Mekdeci defeated Nathan Rahaman 11-4, 11-3 and Gareth DaSilva disposed of Aliyah Persaud 11-5, 11 – 9 in the Category-F matches.

In Category-H, Mohyryan Baksh defeated Geovanna Dos Santos 11-5, 11-5 and Paige Fernandes defeated Isabella Ramjohn 11-7, 11-4. In the final fixture of the division, Beau Fernandes overcame Teija Edwards 11-9, 11-8.
