In the second engagement of the night, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) compliments of a Rawle Haynes first half double, arrested Kitty-based outfit Northern Rangers by a 3-1 score line.

Haynes opened the scoring in sublime fashion for the lawmen in the second minute, curling a 26-yard freekick from outside the left half of the penalty box, down the middle of the goal.

He then completed his double four minutes later, placing his effort into the lower left hand corner during a one-on situation with the opposing custodian within the centre of the box, following a three-pass combination within the midfield area.

Northern Rangers then pulled one back in the 35th minute with Shawn McCalman netting, lashing his effort into the left side of the net, after an initial save by the GPF custodian was parried into this path.

However that was the closest Northern Rangers got to the GPF score line as Andy Gillis sealed the win in the 86th minute, netting a powerful strike into the right-hand corner. Action in the group stage is slated to continue today with a doubleheader at the Tucville ground.

In the opening matchup at 19:00 hrs, Western Tigers will faceoff with Houston Stars while the feature contest of the day will witness home side Fruta Conquerors battling Georgetown Football Club (GFC) from 21:00hrs.
