Despite beginning their campaign on a losing note, Den Amstel-A were crowned the West Coast Demerara divisional champs, defeating Uitvlugt Giants 10-8 in the finale when the Mackeson 3×3 Basketball challenge continued on Tuesday.
With the scores locked on 8-8 within the final minute of the fixture at the Den Amstel court, Michael Clarke nailed what would prove to be the go-ahead two pointer from beyond the arc to seal the matchup.
In their earlier matchups, Den Amstel-A defeated Invictus 12-11 in extra time after normal time ended 10-10 and Tuschen Woodcrest in the group-A finale 7-2. They would suffer their only loss of the evening as they went down to Den Amstel-B 7-6 in their opening fixture.
Meanwhile Uitvlugt Giants defeated Uitvlugt Warriors 12-9 and Guyana Fire Service Training School-B (Fire Service-B) by a 12-4 margin in their final preliminary matchup. In their group-B finale, they defeated Guyana Fire Service Training School-A (Fire Service-A) 5-0.
In other results, Invictus defeated Tuschen Woodcrest 8-7 in the opening stage while Tuschen Woodcrest defeated Den Amstel-B 9-8 in the second round. Fire Service-A would then crush Fire Service-B by a 8-1 margin and Uitvlugt Warriors 7-6.
