Den Amstel Porknockers face Uitvlugt Warriors for place in final

With places in the finale up for grabs, an exciting semi-final section is expected when the Vitamalt/Aqua Mist sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Knockout Cup continues today at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.

In the feature showdown of the night, home side Den Amstel Porknockers will faceoff with longstanding rivals Uitvlugt Warriors from 20:00hrs.

Fresh off their 15-1 thumping of Wales FC in the quarterfinal section, Den Amstel will be confident of overturning the challenges of their formidable rivals and will require another clinical showing led by the likes of Delon Lanferman, Andre Hector and Travis Hilliman.

Made to work in their hard-fought 4-2 win over Eagles FC in the previous round, Uitvlugt Warriors will need another all-round showing marshalled by the trio of Seon Bobb, Robert Christiani and Jermaine Accra, if they are to emerge victorious in hostile territory.

The opening fixture of the night will then witness Vergenoegen giants Slingerz FC locking horns with Pouderoyen FC from 18:00hrs.

Dubbed ‘FC Hollywood’ by certain sections of the media due to their stellar cast of players, Slingerz FC will attempt to live up their billing as the ‘Best from the West’ and will look to their high profile roster of Anthony Abrams, Devon Millington, Colin Nelson, Tichard Joseph and Les Charles Critchlow to power them to victory.

Defensive by nature, Pouderoyen led by the likes of Adrian Giddings, Tenie Lopes, Clement Browne, Marvin Frank and Delon Garraway will need to be at their very best to negate the advances of their high profile antagonists.

Prior to the commencement of the semi-final round, an exhibition fixture between the West Bank and West Coast Demerara Veterans will commence at 17:00hrs.

The winner of the event will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will receive the respective accolade and 500,000. The third and fourth placed sides will collect $300,000 and $200,000 along with the corresponding trophy.
