Santos booted from GFA Banks Beer Cup by Riddim Squad

Georgetown Football Association Banks Beer Cup 2013 runners-up Santos FC failed to qualify for the knockout round of the current event, losing to Riddim Squad 3-1 in their final group matchup on Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.

With both sides needing a win to qualify after Sunburst Camptown defeated Beacons 6-1 in the earlier matchup, Santos would be booted from the event as the Mocha-based side secured the vital result led by a first half double from Amos Ramsay in the first and 10th minute.

Supporting with an important solo effort in the 65th minute was Andel Flue. On target for the losers in the 34th minute was Kenroy Demonic.

Due to the win, Riddim Squad concluded their group campaign at the top of the table with seven points from three games. Santos on the other hand, end their tourney on three points from as many fixtures.

In the earlier matchup, Sunburst Camptown crushed Beacons FC 6-1 to seal their berth to the knockout stages. Requiring a win to qualify, Sunburst Camptown would not disappoint as Reshawn Sandiford and Peter Parks led the rout with a hat-trick and double respectively.

Sandiford found the back of the net on either side of half time in the 20th, 69th and 90th minutes while Parks netted in similar fashion in the 11th and 55th minutes. Sealing the score line with a solo effort was Anthony Sancho in the 65th minute.

Initially giving Beacons the early lead in the sixth minute was Akeel Pinhiero. With the win, the Campbellville-based side finished on six points from three games while Beacons ended their campaign without a point from three fixtures.
