Mackeson three-on-three winners Pitbulls receive prizes

Two-time consecutive Mackeson 3×3 basketball winners Pitbulls officially received their prizes from beverage conglomerate Ansa McAl at a simple presentation ceremony held yesterday at the entity’s Beterverwagting headquarters.

The four-member crew of Ryan Gullen, Jermin Slater, Akeem Kanhai and Ryan Stephney, defeated Pacesetters-A on December 19 at the California Square court to successfully defend their title.

For their accomplishments Pitbulls received the championship trophy and the $500,000 first place prize while the runners-up walked away with the respective accolade and $300,000. Both sides also received $25,000 due to their status as the Georgetown sub-divisional champs.

Also receiving prizes of $25,000 for topping their respective zones were Den Amstel-A, Royals, and TRS Raptors of West Demerara, Linden and East Coast of Demerara correspondingly.

In the individual award section point guard Stephney was adjudged the event’s most valuable player, netting 11 of his side’s eventual 17 points in the final. He walked away with the package of $25,000 and a trophy.
