T&T PM looks forward to working with Granger

(Trinidad Express) The electoral success of the coalition A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance for Change (APNU + AFC) signifies the commitment of the people of Guyana to working together for the interest of that country, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said as she yesterday extended congratulations to newly elected President retired Brigadier General David Granger.

Guyana held its elections on May 11. “On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and on my own behalf, I wish to extend sincerest congratulations to the new President on the victory of A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance for Change (APNU and AFC) under his stewardship in the recently concluded and keenly contested General Elections held in Guyana on Monday May 11th, 2015,” Persad-Bissessar said in a statement yesterday. “The electoral success of the alliance signifies the commitment of the people of Guyana to work together in the interest of the country and is a clear indication of the confidence that the people of Guyana have in the vision for the future which the APNU and AFC articulated,” she said.

Persad-Bissessar said she is looking forward to working with Granger.

“As Mr Granger embarks on his tenure as President, I am confident that under his leadership, Guyana will continue on its path to further development and prosperity, and I look forward to working with him towards the pursuit of our bilateral and regional interests,” Persad-Bissessar said.“Permit me to reaffirm the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to further strengthening the bonds of friendship which have traditionally existed between our two countries,” she said.
