New GM of Gold Board appointed

Lisaveta Ramotar has been appointed General Manager of the Guyana Gold Board.

Ramotar is the daughter of President Donald Ramotar.

“From the four that were narrowed down she was most qualified and the documents are there to show,” an official told Stabroek News yesterday.

“The position was publicly advertised, all and sundry could apply and many did but it was narrowed down to four…the board went through a thorough process and she came out on top,” the official added.

Ramotar will replace Anantram Balram who resigned last November. His resignation came following investigations into the multimillion dollar fraud discovered at the Bartica sub-office of the Gold Board in March last year.

Ramotar will take up her post from Monday at the Brickdam Main Office of the Gold Board.

The source told this newspaper that the University of York, England graduate presented an impressive resume which beat out a number of others. This included her experience working in the local banking sector.

The former St Rose’s High School graduate holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of York. She also studied at the University of Toronto.
