Cosmetics importers must submit full invoices – Analyst Dept

The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department is advising importers/distributors of cosmetics that all Import License Application and Customs Entry forms submitted must be accompanied by a complete invoice from the manufacturers.

The invoice from the manufactures/ authorised agents/wholesalers should include the brand name, expiry date and country of origin, the Department said in a press statement. “This information is necessary to determine whether the cosmetic will be approved or be released for sale on the local market,” the statement said.

Further, all cosmetic labels must comply with the labelling requirements of the Food and Drug Regulations of 1977, Part V, Section (99-101). Also, all labels must be written in English Language. Samples must be available upon request for perusal and/or analysis. All cosmetics imported into Guyana must be approved by the Department and should arrive with at least 75 per cent of its stated shell-life, the Department said.
