Warlock man shot twice

A Warlock man is now hospitalized after he was gun butted and shot twice by another man in the community last night, following an argument over “hustle”.

Injured is Eustace Thomas, 40, of East Ruimveldt.

According to Thomas’ wife, at approximately 8pm, her husband was on the road at Warlock, when a man with whom he often has disputes, walked up to him and started an argument, accusing Thomas of impeding his “hustle.” The distraught woman said that the man left, only to return with another man, who was armed with a gun. “They beat he and hit he in the face with the gun” leaving a huge laceration she told Stabroek News, before the armed man brandished his gun and subsequently fired twice at Thomas, hitting him in the shoulder and leg.

A conscious Thomas was then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit, where he was admitted.

Up to press time, Thomas was awaiting emergency surgery to remove the bullet lodged in his shoulder and leg. When this newspaper visited the hospital, Thomas was receiving stitches for the laceration on his face.

Police officers were seen in the area searching an hour after the shooting. It is unclear whether Thomas’ attackers were apprehended.
