Man held over ‘Blacka’ death released

Police have not yet identified another suspect in the death of Natasha Jacobs, the woman who was pulled out of the Blacka Canal at ‘B’ Field, Sophia three weeks ago, a senior police officer says.

The senior officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Stabroek News that lawmen had to release the man who was previously arrested and noted that the case was still open for investigations.

Jacobs, 35, a mother of four children, was found floating in the canal three weeks ago, just a day after she went missing. She was believed to have been murdered and dumped into the canal.

A post-mortem examination showed that she died of trauma to her head and asphyxiation due to drowning.

Her boyfriend, a man known by the name “Coby,” was arrested after he was beaten by her relatives but was later released.
