Porkknocker charged over theft of jerseys, hats

A porkknocker was yesterday released on $50,000 bail after he denied a charge of larceny.

It is alleged on January 25 at Cuyuni, Derick Watson, 31, a porkknocker, stole four jerseys and two hats, amounting to $40,000 belonging to Akeem Joseph.

The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 5.

No facts were presented and the prosecution had no objection to bail, which was later granted in a sum of $50,000.

The matter was adjourned to February 2 when it will be called again before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
