Colin Mack freed

Colin Mack, the man accused of raping a 19-year-old woman in 2009, has been freed of the charge after a jury found him not guilty.

Mack was had been on trial for the offence before Justice Navindra Singh before a 12-member jury for the past week.

Mack had been charged in April 2009. In his defence in court, he had claimed that the young woman had consented to sex with him.

A medical report, which was admitted as evidence in the rape trial, had revealed that his accuser sustained injuries to her eyes, elbow and genitals. The young woman was the state’s main witness in the trial.
