Shot newspaper vendor discharged from hospital

Warren Accra called ‘Kangaroo’, the newspaper vendor who was shot on Sunday morning during a robbery at the Kaieteur News outlet on Robb and King streets has been discharged from the Georgetown Hospital.

Accra, 47, told this newspaper that he is doing well and with “Jesus by my side” he believes everything will be fine. However, he refused to give any information as it relates to him undergoing surgery to remove the bullet.

Muneshwar Balgobin, a Kaieteur News supervisor said that up to yesterday they had received information from the police that anyone had yet been held.

On Sunday around 07:00 hrs, two armed men on a CG motorcycle entered the Kaieteur News outlet and demanded cash from a worker who was behind the counter tending to customers. One of the men placed a gun to his mouth saying “give me the money and you will live” and he complied. Upon exiting the building the gunman also robbed Accra after which he shot him once. They then made good their escape with an undisclosed sum of money by proceeding east along Robb Street on the motorcycle.
