Schoolgirl on seawall died by drowning –post-mortem

-police cite suicide note

A post mortem examination was today performed on the body of Alicia Ali, of Cummings Lodge, ECD, by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.

A release from the police said that the cause of death was given as asphyxia due to drowning, compounded by compression injury to the neck and blunt trauma to the head.

The body of Ali was found on the seawall at Turkeyen, ECD, on March 25, 2015.

The release said that during investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death, the police had discovered a suicide note in the room that had been occupied by Ali, which is believed to have been written by her and addressed to her mother.

Investigations are continuing.
