Man jailed over bus park assault

A man has been jailed after admitting to assaulting another man whom he said aggravated him.

Deshaun Pitt pleaded guilty on Friday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 11. He admitted that on February 3, 2015, around the South Ruimveldt minibus park, he assaulted Edward Dowridge. According to the police, Pitt approached Dowridge at the bus park and dealt him several punches to the right side of his face.

The remorseful Pitt told the court that the act stemmed from previous aggravation from Dowridge.

Magistrate Annette Singh subsequently sentenced Pitt to one month in prison.
