“I want that to be crystal clear, your Government is firmly committed to the long – term viability and strength of the scheme, and we will do all that it takes to ensure that the NIS rides through the challenges it might be facing, traverses them and emerges to an even stronger institution,” Singh said, according to GINA.

He cautioned that the task of ensuring a strong NIS is not only for Government, but for those who benefit and those who are expected to benefit from the scheme.

Timely processing of contributions is a pressing issue, and GINA said that Singh urged the staff to treat in a prompt manner the backlog they have.

Singh, expressed gratitude to former General Manager, Patrick Martinborough for allowing the use of his name on the facility which will be the venue of many activities, including conferences and training sessions.
