In Corriverton the HAP team along with volunteer residents, civic groups and municipal government officials provided aid to 140 families in villages 76, 77 and 78. Residents expressed gratitude for the assistance and support offered by the embassy and the team. The team also donated a quantity of sport equipment to the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association and to the Roadside Baptist Church Skills Training Centre. The equipment will benefit 51 cricket clubs in the upper Corentyne District, significantly increase youth access to better sporting supplies and help sustain cricket programmes in the Corriverton area.

Additionally, in partnership with USAID’s SKYE programme counsellors, the HAP team conducted a humanitarian aid distribution in Linden, Region 10. The donation was given to five Community Development Council leaders from Constabulary, Amelia’s Ward, Nottinghamshire, Old England and Blue Berry Hill. The distribution of several hundred donated items reached over 1000 underprivileged residents in the communities, the press release said.

HAP is an initiative under the US Embassy to assist Guyana communities, particularly in underserved regions, in areas of social, economic and medical development. HAP works to bring together multiple local and international agencies to reach common goals, the embassy said.
