Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS expanding mandate

The Guyana Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBCHA) will formally announce this month its expanded mandate to include health awareness in the workplace and community.

Executive Director Suzanne French made this announcement during a presentation ceremony held on Friday to announce the winners of a recently held fundraising raffle, a press release said. French said over 1200 people have received HIV counselling and testing for the year while more than 50 other participated in workplace awareness programmes on reducing domestic violence and other health issues.

The Coalition’s work is achieved through membership subscriptions and fundraisers such as the recent raffle, she said, adding that the group is grateful to both the sponsors and attendees for their support. Raffle prizes were sponsored by Fly Jamaica, Wilderness Explorers, ND&S Superstore, Cellsmart, Nanda’s Boutique and Topaz Jewellers, the statement said.
