Craig woman accused of trafficking cocaine at Ogle airport

The woman who was nabbed at the Ogle airport with cocaine strapped to her body yesterday made an appearance at the Sparendam Magistrate’s Court.

Lonette Roberts who was an outgoing passenger on a LIAT flight destined for Barbados, was remanded after being charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The Craig, East Bank Demerara resident was nabbed at the Ogle airport on Tuesday after ranks from the Narcotic Branch conducted a search on her which resulted in the discovery of the illegal substance in four parcels strapped to her body as well as a cocaine-filled condom in her vagina. The cocaine was weighed and was said to have amounted to one kilogramme.

The matter has since been adjourned for a later date in May.
