The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Xanier Waaldijk of Grove, East Bank Demerara and originally from Linden.

The entire ordeal was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras and so far it has been determined that the getaway car had a fake licence plate number.

Employee of the store said that the car with the men had been parked on Regent Street in front of the store for close to an hour. When the man arrived, one of three men called out his name and when he answered he was forced into the vehicle which sped away jumping the traffic light at the corner of Camp and Regent streets.

Another employee gave chase but ended his pursuit after a gun was pulled on him.

The drama unfolded just before 9 am as Waaldijk arrived at the store in the company of a female colleague. He has been employed at the popular footwear store for the past five months and was not known to have had a problem with anyone.

The police today issued the following statement:

At about 0900h. today Monday May 04, 2015, Waaldijk Zineer, 27 years, of Grove, EBD, was standing in front of a store on Regent Street, Georgetown, when a motor vehicle drove up and two men who were armed with handguns exited.

The two men confronted Waaldijk Zineer and forced him into a bronze coloured motor vehicle bearing registration number PLL 8911 which sped away.
