Danny’s variety store suffers 8th break in, $1M in items stolen

A variety store on Robb Street, Georgetown, owned and managed by former Member of Parliament Dave Danny experienced yet another break and enter during which bandits carted off approximately $1 million in items.

Danny yesterday expressed his dissatisfaction, noting that the incident was the 8th since the establishment of his business in 1986. Danny explained to Stabroek News that he secured the store around 5.15 on Tuesday afternoon and left. He added that as he was on his way to work yesterday morning he received a call from a neighbour who operates a business next to his informing him that someone had broken into his store. Upon his arrival, Danny said, he discovered a window on the western side of the store open and a number of items including expensive evening gowns, beauty products and costume jewellery missing. A report was made to the police who arrived and took fingerprints.

According to the man he believes whoever committed the crime was well aware of what they were doing. Danny is hoping that the surveillance camera on a nearby bank will be able to provide him with some image in order to determine the real thieves.

When this newspaper visited yesterday, everything seemed normal and the store was open for business.
