At about 1900h. last night, police say that businesswoman Angela Hussain, 39 years, of Palmyra, Canje, Berbice, was in her shop when five men, armed with firearms and cutlasses, entered and held her up, along with her family.
The men took away jewellery and an undisclosed sum of cash and escaped.
During the incident, police say that Hussain was shot to her head and has been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Investigations are in progress.
