Magistrate Singh told Theobald that after she considered all the evidences presented in court, he was found guilty of the charge, which had stated that he had the illegal drug in his possession for the purpose of trafficking on April 2nd on Water Street.

The magistrate then asked Theobald to address the court on why he should not be given the maximum sentence of five years. In response, he apologised for his actions.

According to Prosecutor Adduni Inniss, on the day in question, police officers were patrolling the Stabroek Market area when they observed Theobald standing underneath the market clock.

His actions aroused the suspicions of the police, who decided to carry out a search on his person.

A quantity of leaves, seeds and stems were subsequently found on him, Inniss said.
