Just says after he graduated from a welding course at the Sophia Training Centre, a Turkeyen man found himself in a city court charged with break and enter and larceny.

Glenroy DaSilva, 20, was granted $40,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday and pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.

It is alleged that on July 7, at Georgetown, DaSilva broke and entered the dwelling house of Malinda Mustapha and stole a gold chain and a quantity of cash, totaling $155,000.

No further details of the matter were presented in court.

Prosecutor Deniro Jones did not object to bail but asked that it be a substantial sum if granted. He also told the court that the items were not recovered and DaSilva provided the police with a different address than the one he provided to the court yesterday.

The magistrate subsequently set DaSilva’s bail at $70,000. However, after his plea for a reduction, bail was reduced to $40,000.

He is expected to make his next court appearance on August 7 before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
