Suspect in killing of Sophia juice vendor elusive

A man considered the prime suspect in the murder of Sophia resident Jerry Dalrymple remains on the run, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed yesterday.

Dalrymple was himself a suspect in the murder of Janice Paul, who was stabbed over a dozen times about her body last month. Dalrymple was said to be Paul’s former neighbour and he was fingered as the person who attacked Janice and Eusi Paul at their home and fatally stabbed Janice. He was subsequently caught and badly beaten before being tied up and handed over topolice by some citizens.

Blanhum, in an invited comment, told Stabroek News that a man was held and subsequently released on station bail after he was thoroughly questioned by the police. He said that the matter is still being investigated and the police are looking for the prime suspect who is believed to be the person that spotted Dalrymple at a bus park and who allegedly dealt him several blows about his body before handing him over to the authorities.

The prime suspect is believed to be a man close to Janice. According to Blanhum, the man escaped when ranks visited his home to arrest him on one occasion. He added that several other attempts were made and the investigation is continuing.
