Two more suspects have been held for the recent attack on the Kadir family of No. 2 Village, West Coast Berbice.

Police declined to comment on the matter but a source told Stabroek News that the two men were recently held by the lawmen as the investigation continues. The suspects are reportedly from a neighbouring village and there is notable evidence against one of the men in custody, the source said.

Abdool and Neeranie Kadir were beaten and chopped by three bandits armed with cutlasses and a handgun during an invasion of their home early Sunday morning. Two of the couple’s daughters were also terrorised and robbed during the attack. Neeranie sustained a chop to her wrist and was admitted then discharged from the Georgetown Hospital.

Yesterday, relatives said that Neeranie is confined to her bed as she is unable to care for herself. She is still suffering from severe pains, a relative said.

Five men were previously held but were subsequently released after police were told that they were not the men involved in the attack.
