Leopold St man knifed to death

A man was yesterday morning stabbed to death after he was reportedly involved in an argument with a group of men in his Leopold Street, Georgetown apartment.

Dead is Dean Macey, 51, of Lot 67-68 Leopold Street, Georgetown. Macey had been residing at the address for the past three years. He did odd jobs around the community.

A release from the police stated that investigations are ongoing into the fatal stabbing that occurred around 6:50 am yesterday during which Macey was involved in an argument with a group of men at Leopold Street, Georgetown and was stabbed about his body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

One resident, Simone Dowden, related to Stabroek News that she was awakened very early yesterday morning by other residents informing her of the tragedy. The woman stated that she immediately rushed to Macey’s apartment which was flocked by other residents where she saw him lying in a pool of blood. She further stated that among the injuries she saw was a puncture to his abdomen and three stab wounds to his chest among other cuts and bruises about his body. His body was taken to the funeral parlour.

While the circumstances surrounding the killing are yet unknown, residents yesterday vented their anger and are calling on the police to conduct thorough investigations into the matter so that the perpetrator/s can be caught.

The landlord of the premises where Macey was residing was taken into police custody late yesterday afternoon. The woman was accompanied to the Brickdam Police Station by her husband.
