Men charged with using bottle, toy gun to rape woman

Two men were yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with drugging and raping a woman.

Zocan Albert, 35, a salesman of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, and Ricardo Forde, 21, of 644 Section ‘C’ Turkeyen, Sophia, Georgetown, were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which was read by Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

It is alleged that between November 6th and November 7th, 2015, at Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, they sexually penetrated the 19-year-old woman and inserted various instruments into her vagina and anus without her consent.

The woman was allegedly alerted to what the men had done after seeing a video with her unconscious and the two suspects inserting a Coca Cola bottle and a toy gun into her vagina and anus. She reported the matter to the police and the men were arrested after investigations.

Prosecutor Ramsohoye Rambajue objected to bail, while noting the seriousness of the offence, including the allegation that the men inserted instruments into the victim.

When asked their addresses by the Magistrate, both men said Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, but they had given different addresses to the police after being arrested.

Albert and Forde were remanded to prison until December 9th, when they are expected to appear at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court for the next hearing.
