Dear Editor,
Both the editor of the Stabroek News and I know perfectly well that speculation, whether informed or not, should be confined to the editorial columns of a newspaper and not introduced as news reporting where the reader expects fact, not fiction.
We also know that the use of the term “observers say” by newspapers is sleight of hand for introducing unsubstantiated opinion into news reporting disguised as fact. Again, this practice is not the high standard of reporting which I expect from the Stabroek News.
To the best of my knowledge, Atlantic Hotel Inc announced the name of the investor in the Marriott since May last year.
