The opposition needs to get out the vote

Dear Editor,

Now that a date has been announced for holding the next general election in Guyana, I think that it is vital for the two opposition political parties to mobilize their members, supporters and well-wishers to get all their hands, eyes and ears on board, in order to get out the vote.

That, Editor, involves seeking to register every possible potential voter; effectively campaigning in urban and rural areas in order to enlighten voters about the necessities for political change; keeping eyes (given past reported miscarriages) open for manoeuvres; and making arrangements for having scrutineers at every polling place.

Because of Guyana’s current constitution, it might be advantageous for the APNU and the AFC to pursue efforts to go into the May elections as a coalition.

Editor, we just cannot afford another term of the present regime, because of the deterioration that it has perpetrated within the Guyanese society, and its image abroad.

Yours faithfully,
Morris Wilson
