Cozier’s attitude was not helpful to WI cricket

Dear Editor,

I listened to Tony Cozier`s lecture to Barry Wilkins and his associate about the magnificence of Australia`s cricket after that country won the 2015 World Cup at home. I wondered whether Cozier was talking about the same country that was beaten by Pakistan by an innings, and against which a Pakistani batsman either equalled or broke Sir Viv`s record for the fastest Test century months ago in a neutral venue, I think, Dubai.

During the lecture there was no attempt to help West Indian fans understand what has happened to young Kemar Roach, one of the few fast bowlers whose action is not questionable, and is likely one of the most promising quicks in cricket.

Is it insensitivity? Is it because he believes that is what his audience wants? Is it that he does not follow the game closely, or he believes the viewers and listeners do not? I find his attitude disgusting, and it cannot be helpful to West Indian cricket.

Yours faithfully,
