GT&T promotion had to be restricted to mobile network

Dear Editor,

Please allow me the opportunity to respond to Mr. Sahadeo Bates’ letter published in the letter column of your April 14, edition with the caption `Landlines, mobiles and free talk’.

Regarding our Easter Weekend promotion [HELLO FREE TALK], we are happy that Mr. Bates took note of our footnote “Conditions apply.” This is standard industry practice in relation to promotions and GT&T follows the best practice because the company has no desire to mislead customers.

Our customers should be aware that prior to February 2015 all of our promotions defined “on-net” to include both GT&T’s wire line and mobile networks. However, following a complaint by our competitor to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that GT&T’s definition of “on net” places that company at a disadvantage and is therefore unfair, we were forced to redefine “on net” as GT&T’s mobile network only for purposes of mobile promotions.

We wish to remind our customers that our toll free Call Centre can be accessed via 0488 and our toll free IVR via 093 and that both facilities are available to answer customer queries on services and promotions. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of these facilities.

Yours faithfully,
Allison Parker
