The Guyana Times in its Tuesday, May 26, edition in an article captioned ‘APNU/AFC backers Rap Granger’s high handedness’ sought to give readers the impression that I had criticized the new APNU+AFC administration, in comments I made in a letter which was carried in Kaieteur News and Stabroek News on May 23. That interpretation of the content of the letter was a deliberate misrepresentation by Guyana Times of what I had said.
In the article Guyana Times had stated, “WPA executive member Tacoma Ogunseye, who is known to be an APNU/AFC supporter, also criticized the administration for not holding an in-house meeting before decisions was [sic] made with respect to post elections, responsibilities and ministerial appointments.” Contrary to what the Times reported my letter was restricted to the failure of the APNU executive to meet. This is a matter that is internal to that organization and is not a governmental issue.
For the benefit of Guyana Times readers who are unaware of what my comments were this is what I wrote, “This letter is limited to the issue of the failure of the executive to meet at this historical juncture in the life of the APNU and the country when important matters of the organization, the government and the state have to be decided on.” It is as a result of what was stated there that I submit, unapologetically, that the Times interpretation was a deliberate misrepresentation of my very clear, unambiguous statement.
