Election by acclamation

Dear Editor,

In my article published in my blog, conversationtree.gy and in last Sunday’s SN (‘The PPP has lost its way’), I asserted that Mr Donald Ramotar obtained nine votes out of thirty-five in the voting at the Central Committee of the PPP for the position of opposition leader.

That information was not accurate. His support amounted to about nine persons, if so many, but no vote actually took place. The support for Dr Jagdeo was so overwhelming that the election was by acclamation.

Yours faithfully,

Ralph Ramkarran
