Maduro is trying to divert his people’s attention from the food crisis

Dear Editor,

As a patriotic Guyanese I wish to express my concern over the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy.

The discovery of oil in Guyana waters has escalated the controversy. It is coming close to the Venezuelan parliamentary election and during election periods the Venezuelans have often used the controversy to gain votes. Mr Nicolás Maduro has a food crisis in his country so he is taking away the people’s attention from that. The world oil price is down which is affecting the Venezuelan economy a great deal. Mr Maduro has asked the opposition in Venezuela to support his claim to Essequibo and they have responded in the positive.

This is my support from Region One as a patriotic Guyanese.

Yours faithfully,

Michael Hope
