On page 16 of the Stabroek News of July 22 there is a photograph of the Attorney General in a meeting with the Ambassador of China to Guyana.
The Ambassador has his interpreter at his side, even though I am positive he speaks fluent English. Our Attorney General is there alone, maybe with a photographer in the room. Forgive me if there was an interpreter in the room whose picture was not captured in that frame, but if there was not, does our AG speak or understand Chinese? And if he does not, why did he not have an interpreter with him? Makes you want to scream. Is this the way to conduct the business of government? If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have a Chinese speaking Guyanese on staff, I know 4 very competent Guyanese who recently returned from China having completed tertiary degree courses there, and at least one of them is able and willing to be an interpreter. So do call me if they need help.
