Third annual Benjamin Sports Store cycle event set for Sunday in B/ce

Overseas-based Guyanese Wilbert Benjamin is the sponsor of the third annual Benjamin Sports Store cycle event which takes place Sunday in Berbice.

The 50-mile event is being organized by Randolph Roberts of the Flying Ace Cycle Club and is open to cyclists throughout Guyana.

Benjamin, who resides in Canada, is a former member of the Flying Ace Cycling.

The race will commence at 9.30am in front of Benjamin’s store at Fyrish, Corentyne, and proceed to No 51 Village, Corentyne before finishing in front of the store.

Veteran riders, females and novices will turn back at Nand Persaud and Company Limited and finish in front of the store.

Prizes will be awarded to the first six finishers, the top three juniors and the first three females and the presentation of those awards will be done upon the completion of the event.

There will also be eight sprint point prizes.

Benjamin was a former national cyclist who represented Guyana at both the junior and senior level.

Cyclists must ride in the club colours.
