Flores returned unopposed as GVF president

John Flores on Sunday was returned unopposed as President of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) following the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Olympic House Kingston, Georgetown.

According to a press release, the core agenda of the AGM was the electoral process of GVF’s executive body who will be tasked with taking the game forward for at least the next four years.

Dr. Karen Pilgrim, Vice-President of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), served as Returning Officer during the polls which involved two of the three sub-associations of the GVF, the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) and the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA).

The Essequibo Volleyball Association (EVA) the only absentee

National Under-19 coach, Levi Nedd, was elected Vice-President while the Treasurer Leonna Bradford, Secretary Nicholas Fraser and Assistant Secretary Shauntel Maloney were among other executives appointed.

Mark Bradford is the Marketing Officer.

The Executive Committee shall have its first meeting on February 7, 2015 at which time it will select a Public Relations Officer (PRO). In addition to the federation’s calendar of activities of local and international competitions, the new executive committee is tasked with supporting the newly resuscitated Essequibo Volleyball Association and increasing the number of facilities, schools and clubs actively involved in the sport.
